Terms of service

Last updated 2026-11-03

These terms cover your use of Signalbox, the app, and this website. By using Signalbox you agree to them.

What Signalbox is

Signalbox is software you install and run yourself, on your own devices. It connects to services you choose (such as GitHub, Linear, Slack and Google) using your own accounts, and keeps what it reads on your own devices and in a private git repository you own. There is no Signalbox account and no Signalbox server. The privacy policy says what it reads and where that goes.

Signalbox is pre-alpha software. Features appear, change and go away often, and things may break.

Your accounts and the services you connect

  • You connect only accounts you’re allowed to use, and each service’s own terms keep applying to how you use it (GitHub, Linear, ClickUp, Slack, Google and any other you connect).
  • You’re responsible for your devices, your sync repository, the tokens and keys you give Signalbox, and who can reach them. Signalbox keeps them on your devices; if one leaks, revoke it at the service that issued it.

Acting on your behalf

Signalbox does things in the services you connect when you, or an agent you start, ask it to: marking an issue done, moving it, commenting, sending a Slack reply you wrote or approved, or creating a calendar event. Those actions are yours, made with your account.

Agents you start (AI coding assistants such as Claude Code) act on your instructions, under your own account with their provider and that provider’s terms. Depending on what you allow, an agent can write and run code on a machine you choose, open pull requests, comment, and approve or merge pull requests. Check what an agent did before you rely on it, and allow only what you’re comfortable with.

Updates

Signalbox updates itself from the project’s releases. On the development channel a new version can arrive many times a day, straight from the latest changes, and may bring bugs with it; the app rolls back an update that fails to start.

Using it well

Don’t use Signalbox to break the law, to reach accounts or data you aren’t allowed to, or to interfere with the services it connects to.

No warranty

Signalbox is pre-alpha software, provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. It may have bugs, lose or mix up data, act in a connected service in a way you didn’t expect, or stop working, and a connected service may change in a way that breaks a feature. Keep your own backups of anything important.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, the makers of Signalbox are not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for lost data, profits or work, arising from your use of Signalbox.

Changes

Signalbox is pre-alpha, and these terms may change as it develops, following the same principles. A significant change is announced in the app. The date at the top shows when this page last changed; continuing to use Signalbox after a change means you accept the new terms.
